(Oct. 16, 2013) – It was a tough, tough week with no fans going 10-0 or 9-1 so we ended up with a 24-way tie for first place … yes 24-way!
Looking at the tiebreaker, Mr. Dubya of Sterling was closest calling Broad Run’s win 24-20 when the actual score was 21-17.
The race for the season long title — and key to hidden vault full of prizes that goes with it! — has bunched up with a 3-way tie for first between B’Land Eddie, CockyBobcat and MachineGunKelly with 58 wins. Some 20 fans are at 52 wins or better and within shouting distance as we have a long way to go including playing all the way to the state finals!
Season long winners will win cash prizes with the overall champion receiving $100, as well as $100 to their favorite local high school athletic program. Runner-up will get $50 and third place $25. Our overall winner will also win a haircut and shave combo to Roosters Men’s Grooming Center in Ashburn and Leesburg. (Email Viva editor Dan Sousa if you have a prize to add to our winners booty).
On the media side, the young guns still sit up top now with Owen Gotimer of Viva Loudoun alone in first but he lost a game this week to Mike Stancik, who has been freelancing for the Loudoun Times-Mirror and Viva Loudoun. Moving up in a tie with Stancik is Joe Bushrod who is at VCU after working at Viva Loudoun as an intern this summer. Average age of our three leaders is like 22!
The season winner from the LoCo Experts will get $100 donated to their favorite charity.
