Sterling, VA (October 10, 2014) – The Woodgrove Wolverines dominated the Parkview Patriots in a lopsided contest last Friday, beating them 72-0 at the Patriots home field. The victory improved the Wolverines to 4-2.
The Wolverines dominated in every category and could move the ball against the Patriots at will. Wolverine QB Billy Sheehan was 9 for 12 with 126 yards and 3 TD’s. The Wolverine rushing attacked was balanced with Mike Kovich getting 6 attempts for 77 yards and 2 TD’s, while Kade Lambert had 10 touches for 74 yards. Mike Bryant and Matt Whalen also each found the end zone 1 time each.
The receiving core was just as balanced as the rushing game, with 6 different players making catches. Dylan Mellor led the crew with 3 catches for 46 yards and 2 TD’s. Mike Bryant, also added another TD through the air.
The game was over almost as it began as the Wolverines ran up 35 points in the first quarter and led 55-0 by half time. They backed off the accelerator in the second half, adding just two more 2TD’s and a field goal to round out the scoring.
The Patriots were just outmatched. For the game they had a negative 8 yards rushing on 34 attempts, and gained 8 yards passing during the entire game. They did manage to hold onto the ball longer, having possession for 26:05 versus Woodgrove’s 21:55.
