Ashburn, Va. (November 27, 2014) — It’s only fitting. A season dedicated to a coach who tremendously impacted both programs should come down to those teams reuniting in the postseason.
Almost like it was meant to be.
Seven weeks after the school’s football field was officially named for dearly departed defensive coordinator Adam Fortune, the Huskies of Tuscarora High School (12-0, top-seed in 5A North) are back at it again with the Spartans of Broad Run High School (9-3, four-seed in 5A North).
The Huskies outshot the Spartans 35-28 — five touchdowns to four — in their emotion-ridden meeting Oct. 10. Tuscarora — already with its longest playoff run ever in its five-year history — hasn’t been tested since, winning the last five by an average score of 42-6. Broad Run held off Briar Woods by two points last Friday in their quarterfinal rendezvous.
This Friday afternoon, Fortune Bowl II could be another high-scoring affair. Tuscarora’s massive offensive line and yardage-gobbling back Noah Reimers goes up against Broad Run’s posse of athletic receivers like Chuck Davis, Marcel Mingo and Andre Chinnery. It’ll be a post-Thanksgiving football feast sure to knock all the sleep-inducing tryptophan right out of your system. We’ll have all the juicy details right here as our VivaLoudoun Top Ticket Of The Week.
