Ashburn, Va. (October 29, 2014) — Will one team rebound from a shocking last-minute defeat? Will the other team complete its first ever undefeated season?
Who knows? Let’s play this game!
We conclude what has been a truly riveting 2014 regular season for Loudoun high school football with a matchup pitting one program owning three recent state championships against another coached by a man with two state titles of his own.
The Huskies of Tuscarora High School (9-0, 97.2 rating for 1st place in 5A North), under head coach Michael Burnett, are a win away from going 10-0 for the first time in the five-year-old school’s history. But standing in their way — and not far beneath them in the region standings — are the Falcons of Briar Woods High School (7-2, 81.0 rating for 4th place in 5A North), headed by one of the area’s coaching stalwarts in Charlie Pierce.
Briar Woods surrendered eight points in the final moments to fall to Potomac Falls last Friday, so the Falcons’ll be pumped to erase that memory. Tuscarora has had an extra week to prepare for this test, so the Huskies’ll be primed to pass with flying colors.
Two coaches who’ve built powerful programs from the ground up will meet on Fortune Field in Leesburg to decide whether the Birds or the Dogs get the lion’s share of momentum heading into the playoffs. It’ll be a fantastic gridiron showdown to round out the regular season as VivaLoudoun’s Top Ticket Of The Week.
