Ashburn (Oct. 25, 2013) – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Coca-Cola will host the Get the Ball Rolling Flag Football Experience for nearly 200 local middle school students at Redskins Park on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Get the Ball Rolling Flag Football Experience is a healthy lifestyle and fitness clinic that will focus on promoting proper football technique and nutrition. Students will participate in warm-ups before kicking off four flag football games. Redskins players Adam Gettis, Joshua Morgan, Josh Wilson, Alfred Morris and Darrel Young will serve as quarterbacks for each of the teams.
“We are thrilled to partner with Coca-Cola in order to make a lasting impact on local middle school students,” said Jane Rodgers, Executive Director of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation. “Events such as the Get the Ball Rolling Flag Football Experience help our young Redskins fans understand the benefits of daily physical activity, as well as the importance of nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
“There’s no better way to help our youth be all-pros with their health than by teaming up with their gridiron heroes. Together, the Washington Redskins and Coca-Cola are helping youth learn how to play and eat like pros,” said Mark LaBorne, Vice President for Field Operations, Maryland and Virginia Market Units, Coca-Cola Refreshments. “We’re helping area youth to score a touchdown for healthy and active living and build an early lead in the game of life.”
Coca-Cola’s Get the Ball Rolling initiative is part of the company’s commitment to encourage healthy living and inspire people to rediscover the joy of being active. The initiative began in 2010 with the support of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, and in partnership with other Washington, D.C.-based professional sports teams to combat childhood obesity.
