Ashburn, VA (November 10, 2015) – Seven teams were in action tonight in regional volleyball play and all seven won. As a group, Loudoun County teams were 21-1 in sets, a very impressive performance.
In the 5A Region, Briar Woods traveled to Massaponax and won 3-0. Potomac Falls traveled to Atlee and won 3-1. Stone Bridge hosted Brooke Point and won 3-0. Action resumes on Thursday with three of the final four teams from Conference 14. Briar Woods hosts Potomac Falls and Stone Bridge travels to Marshall. The winners of Thursday matches will advance to the state championship and Saturday’s regional final will determine the region champion and seeding for the state tournament.
In the 4A West region, Loudoun teams put on an even more impressive performance by winning all four matches. Dominion traveled to Liberty Christian and won 3-0. Woodgrove hosted Salem and won 3-0. Freedom hosted Jefferson Forest and won 3-0. Loudoun County also won 3-0 over Sherando. In the first game of the match, the Raiders beat Sherando 25-3. Woodgrove will host Dominion, and Loudoun County will host Freedom on Thursday. The winners of Thursday matches will advance to the state championship and Saturday’s regional final will determine the region champion and seeding for the VHSL state tournament.
