Leesburg, VA (June 29, 2015) – The Athletic Dept. at Loudoun County HS announced Monday that Head Football Coach, Todd Hill, has stepped down due to continuing health concerns.
LCHS’ release said “Coach Hill has been out since early spring after undergoing minor surgery to repair some spinal disc issues, and the recovery has not gone as we all had hoped. With the football season fast approaching, Coach Hill has been advised by his doctors that he would be unable to continue his duties as Head Football coach while he continues to rehab his injury. However, we are hopeful for a full recovery and look forward to seeing Coach Hill back in the classroom this fall.”
Coach Hill came to LCHS in 2006, after serving for over 20 years, first as Asst. Football coach, then Head Coach, and finally Athletic Director at John Handley HS in Winchester. The Raider football program was in the midst of an 11 game losing streak, but Coach Hill quickly turned them around and made multiple playoff appearances.
“I want to thank everyone at Loudoun County HS for the support and friendship they have shown me and my family during my time as Head Coach. We will always cherish our memories of being part of the Raider Family. I am saddened that my current condition does not allow me to end my career in the way I envisioned, but my family and I are very thankful for the opportunity we were given.”
“Words can not express the sadness I have felt as we went through this process, knowing that we may be losing a coach of Todd Hill’s character and ability,” said LCHS Activities Director Ken Wright. “He built his program on honesty and hard work, and we will forever be grateful to him. Coach Hill and his family will always be part of the Raider Community…and we are just so fortunate for the time we were able to spend together.”
With Coach Hill’s health in question, the Raider Football Team has been operating under Interim Head Coach Steve Williams, with Mike Gims named as Offensive Coordinator, Aaron Huber as Defensive Coordinator, and John Jackson as new Head JV Coach. These contingency plans were put in place several weeks ago and will now be in effect for the 2015 season.
