Sterling, VA (Jan. 31, 2016) – After finishing the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, Briar Woods boys and girls swim continued their regular season dominance by winning the 2016 Conference 14 Championship before of a packed house at the Claude Moore Recreation Center.
The Briar Woods Lady Falcons stormed out the gate with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay and closed out the match with a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to tally a score of 338-points on the evening. Notable Briar Woods individual first place finishes include Madison Gupton in the 200 and 500-yard free, Bethany Gatlin in the 200-yard IM, Camryn Barry in the 50 and 100-yard free, and Yuka Kuwahara in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Broad Run Lady Spartans secured the runner-up spot with a score of 234.
The boys team victory, though commanding was not as decisive as their counterpart’s. After notable individual victories by Stuary Pliuskaitis and Cameron McConagha claiming first and second in the 200-yard IM, Mal McGann in the 500-yard free, and Lucas Jackson in the the 100-yard breaststroke, the Falcons closed out the match with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish with a score of 294. Stone Bridge placed 2nd with a score of 247 after opening the match with a victory in the 200-yard medly relay.
