Ashburn, Va (September 23, 2014) -The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a Virginia man after an armed robbery that occurred shortly before 11:30AM Monday in the area of Greenway Corporate Drive in Ashburn, VA. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues the investigation and will search for the weapon used.
The suspect, Desmine A. Newton, 20, of Bristow, VA, is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of obstruction of justice and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The victims reported that they were approached by the suspect who brandished a firearm and took money and a cell phone. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area. The suspect was located around 1PM as he attempted to flee from authorities in the area of Ashburn Village Boulevard and the Dulles Greenway.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will continue to search for the weapon today. If you locate this weapon, you are asked to not touch it and immediately call the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at 703-777-1021.
Newton remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
