Ashburn, Va. (November 28, 2014) – Shannon Williams, Stone Bridge High School Class of 2015 and a 4-year varsity volleyball player, has signed a written commitment to play for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks next fall.
In addition to playing at Stone Bridge, Shannon played 5-years for the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association and is now playing for the Dulles Volleyball League.
Her volleyball achievements include being voted 2nd Team All District and High Honorable Mention as a sophomore; 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All Region and Washington Posts AllMet 2013 First Team and Team MVP as a Junior; and 1st Team All-Conference as a senior.
Shannon is the first winner, along with Samantha Harris, of the Sand Volleyball Scholarship.
Her teams were a regional winner and a state semi-final team as a freshman and sophomore; a regional winner and VA 5A state runner-up as a junior and regional winner and state semi-final team as a senior.
Shannon maintained a 3.96 GPA and was on the VHSL Honor Roll for earning at least a 3.5 while playing a varsity sport all four years.
In addition to the University of South Carolina, Shannon considered Georgia State University, Christopher Newport University and Virginia Tech.
