Charlotte, NC (March 22, 2015) – Hot off the press . . . Stone Bridge Bulldog’s Quarterback, Joe Thompson, 6-2, 205 lbs, verbally committed yesterday to play for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the 2016-2017 academic year. Thompson will play for Head Coach Brad Lambert in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Division.
Currently, Thompson will play his senior year in 2016 for the Bulldogs under his father and Head Coach Mickey Thompson and position coach Patrick Thompson (brother). He really wanted to start playing football because of his older brother Zach and Patrick. Thompson has played on the Bulldogs Varsity team since he was a freshman and has stepped up his game, improving each year. Many team members, coaches, players and fans have seen over the past three years the great potential and talent that Joe possesses. Seeing the success of Coach Thompson along with Patrick and Zach clearly demonstrates that the football gene runs throughout the Thompson family. Coach Thompson played and his two older son, Zach and Patrick played Division I football. Coach Thompson at the University of Virginia and Zach and Patrick for Wake Forest University, and Zach now playing for the Baltimore Ravens. The younger Thompson’s commitment to UNC Charlotte is the first step in realizing his dream of playing college football.
