Sterling, Va. (May 14, 2015) – The Seneca Ridge Middle School Science Olympiad team qualified to participate at the state-level Science Olympiad tournament on April 11 at Lake Braddock Secondary.
The team qualified after winning the third-place trophy and 13 medals at the regional tournament.
26 teams qualified to participate in the state tournament. The Seneca Ridge team won nine medals and was the highest-ranked school from Loudoun County.
The team began preparing for the tournament in October, learning about various scientific areas including biology, physics, chemistry, environmental science, engineering and robotics.
The Seneca Ridge State Science Olympiad team members are:
Eighth Grade: Vikram Arunachalam, Christian Calma, Ayush Desai, Aaron George, Chetan Kala, Aarya Sapre, Dhruv Sridhar, and Arravind Sudhakar.
Seventh Grade: Omkar Bhalerao, Aanish Pradhan, and Varun Shankar.
Sixth Grade: Harshita Chaudhari, Yajat Dewan, Alex Evitt, Rishubh Kaushal, Bela Palankar, and Anshul Rangwani.
