Ashburn, VA (January 29, 2017) – The Riverside High School chapter of DECA donated $4,000 to the Loudoun Breast Health Network during a brief ceremony on Wednesday, January 18th, at Riverside.
DECA is an association of marketing students.
The money was raised through DECA’s Pink Project in October. From October 20th through the 22nd, DECA staged a powder puff football game featuring the junior and senior girls; a 5K race; and special events at the varsity football game against Clarke County. A bake sale, raffle, prize wheel and T-shirts were all part of the fund-raising. The Riverside DECA chapter has 239 members.
This is the second year DECA has undertaken the Pink Project, which it intends to make an annual event.
Former Catoctin Elementary Principal Susan Mills accepted the check on behalf of the Loudoun Breast Health Network. She said the money will be used to support the needs of those undergoing cancer treatment, including making car payments, paying for gas, providing wigs and prosthesis and purchasing insurance, among other things. “We make sure they get what they need to make it.”
