Ashburn, Va (February 15, 2017) – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation is looking for school teams to enter its annual Redskins Draft Day Dash 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29th, at FedExField in Landover, Md.
A School Challenge, which allows schools to get active and win amazing prizes, is held in conjunction with the race. Last year, Algonkian Elementary School was the third-place school in the challenge and received a $5,000 donation. (Steuart Weller Elementary School is a past winner of the school challenge.)
Each of the three schools with the highest number of participants in this year’s challenge have the chance to win one of the following:
- $5,000 Health and Wellness Grant: To be used as the winner sees fit to better the school environment for students and faculty.
- New Gym Equipment: The opportunity to shop for $2,500 worth of new equipment for the winner’s physical education program.
- Redskins Player Appearance and Event: The winning school will get to choose between a Play 60 assembly, a Redskins FITT activity workshop or a Redskins Read assembly with a Redskin player at their school on a mutually agreed upon date.
School teams can be made up of students, parents, faculty, administrators and community supporters. Each 5K participant will receive a technical race shirt, finisher medal and much more.
