Leesburg, Va. (September 26, 2014)– The Loudoun County High School volleyball program will host “Think Pink” on Monday, October 20, to benefit the Loudoun Breast Health Network (LBHN), a non-profit organization that assists Loudoun County residents diagnosed with breast cancer through outreach and support.
Think Pink will take place when the Raiders meet cross-town rival Tuscarora High School. A silent auction starts at 5:30 p.m. with all proceeds going to LBHN. The Washington Redskins have donated an autographed football signed by linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, an autographed mini-helmet signed by wide receiver Pierre Garçon and other Redskins fan gear to the auction. Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club has also donated green fees for four valued at $340.
Other local business donors include: Bluemont Vineyard, Ketterman’s Jewelers, Chi Spa Lounge, Envy Nails, PEI WEI, Party City, Jolie Nails, LA FITNESS, Giovanni’s NY Pizza, Play It Again Sports and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Any business interested in donating goods or services for the auction should contact Allie Sarver at 703-443-9598 no later than Oct. 10.
IHOP in Leesburg will host a Raiders Think Pink night on Monday, October 6. The restaurant on Edwards Ferry Road will donate 20 percent of receipts from 4 – 9 p.m. that day to LBHN. Volleyball players will be at the door to hand out vouchers to patrons so the donation applies.
The Raiders aim to raise $8,500 for LBHN. Donations can be made online at http://www.lbhn.org/. Donors are encouraged to write “LCHS Think Pink” in the notes field so the donations can be linked to the fundraiser. The Raiders volleyball program is also selling Think Pink t-shirts and candy to raise money for LBHN and will accept donations the night of the event.
Any donation helps. For example, according to the LBHN website:
• $10 will purchase a decorative head scarf
• $15 will purchase a mastectomy bra
• $25 will purchase a stylish hat to cover hair loss due to chemo treatment
• $50 donation will purchase a wig
• $75 will purchase a wig/bra/scarf package
The LBHN offers a PINK ASSISTANCE FUND, which provides financial assistance to Loudoun County residents who have been diagnosed and/or undergone active treatment for breast cancer within the past 12 months. The LBHN NEW BEGINNINGS PROGRAM provides free wigs, free mastectomy bras, free soft pocket prostheses, and free hats and scarves to breast cancer patients. All of LBHN’s programs are funded by donations. Donations are tax deductible.
Tickets to Think Pink (including all the matches) are $6—half of that will be donated to LBHN.
