Ashburn, VA (January 15, 2017) –The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services has initiated the public participation process for naming a new recreation center and a senior center located in the Dulles District.
Phase I of the project, currently known as the Dulles South Multipurpose Center, opened in July 2008 and features approximately 24,000 square feet of classrooms, meeting rooms, a large multipurpose room, an activities room, indoor recreation area, senior activity center, kitchen, restrooms and offices.
A bond referendum for the Phase II and Phase III expansion was approved by Loudoun County voters in 2013. The expansion will result in the first public recreation center and full-service senior center for communities in the area. Phase II provides for an 81,000-square-foot addition, with recreation and fitness areas, an elevated running track, a competition and leisure pool, a climbing wall and program facilities. A name is sought for the area comprising both Phase I (existing center) and Phase II (new recreation center).
A second name is sought for Phase III, which provides an additional 17,000 square feet for a full-service senior center. Features include office and program space, a small gymnasium, a large multipurpose room with adjoining commercial kitchen, an exercise/fitness room, classrooms, a game room and a computer lab. Construction of Phase II and III is anticipated to be complete in summer 2017.
The facility is located at 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding, VA 20152. Names can be submitted by email to email@example.com or by mail to:
