Sterling, Va. (November 18, 2014) – Holly Carlton, a Potomac Falls High School junior, has verbally committed to the University of North Carolina to play volleyball for the Tarheels beginning the fall of 2016.
The Tarheels have been in the Women’s D1 Volleyball top 10 throughout the collegiate season. She was recruited by many high level D1 universities and had offers from 10 from coast to coast. This fall she had narrowed it down to Arizona and North Carolina. Both coaches made the trip to Potomac Falls to watch her play during the season showing their true desire for her to select their school. Upon completing her high school season she and her family made the trip down to Chapel Hill to see them play and to let the coach know that she had made her decision to play for UNC.
Holly is a left handed 6’5 setter/hitter. She was named the Player of the Year in Conference 14. She led her team in kills, assists, aces and passing. As Captain she just led her team to a successful season of 17-11 losing in the semi finals of Regionals.
This past summer Holly made USA Volleyball High Performance 2 team and trained and competed in Colorado. She was selected first team all conference and voted as her team’s MVP the past two years.
