Round Hill, VA. (August 27, 2016) – Football season official started Friday night as the Loudoun Valley Vikings travelled to face the Kettle Run Cougars kicking off the start of the 2016 season. For the seniors starting their final season, getting off to a good start is key. For the Vikings, it didn’t take long to demonstrate their dominance on the field. Valley scored their first touchdown of the night just 30 seconds into the game, with Seniors Nick Kallivokas and Duron Norris hooking up for a long TD pass. A fumble by Kettle Run on their first possession put Valley back on offense right away. Kettle Run would pay the price, as Senior Tyler Hunt ran the ball in for Valley’s 2nd TD of the night.
Vally would score 2 more times, taking a 28-0 lead late into the 2nd quarter before Kettle Run found the endzone. Cougar QB Chasen Chumley connected with senior Tony Rocca in the endzone before the half ended with Valley leading 28-7.
The 2nd half provided more scoring opportunities for both teams. However, the Vikings would extend their lead considerably by outscoring Kettle Run by a 2-to-1 margin. The final score of 56-27 set a high bar for the start of the season.
Loudoun Valley will host Rock Ridge Friday September 2, in their 2016 home opener, while Kettle Run will play host to Albemarle.
