Round Hill, VA. (October 18, 2016) – The Loudoun Valley Vikings traveled to South Riding VA, to face the Freedom Eagles on the gridiron in a varsity football matchup. The Homecoming festivities were in full swing, as the Eagles took the field. However, it was all Valley, as the Vikings took a 14-0 lead into halftime.
The 2nd half was all Freedom, as the Eagles put up 14 unswered points to even the score late into the 4th quarter. However, Valley would score with under a minute remaining to take a 21-14 lead. With the clock ticking down, and the Eagles driving, a defensive penalty as the clock expired gave Freedom a final untimed play to force overtime. A huge interception by Senior linebacker Drew Perry cemented the win, with Valley advancing to 5-2 on the season.
On Friday October 21, the Eagles will travel to face Rock Ridge, while the Vikings are home against Loudoun County for their own Homecoming night.
