Ashburn, VA (November 11, 2016) – The Broad Run Spartans scored a huge victory by beating the Tuscarora Huskies at Fortune Field in the last game of the season. At the time, no one expected them to meet in the first round of the regional playoffs, but here they were. Only this time they were in Ashburn, not Leesburg, on a wind-whipped mid-fall night.

Early on, it looked like Broad Run might run away with the game. At the end of the first quarter, they held a tidy 14-0 lead. But the Huskies were not done, and they scored two touchdowns of their own–one on a nifty flea-flicker–to tie the score. Showcasing all of their offensive weapons, however, the Spartans scored again to regain half of their lead before halftime. As the teams left the field, it was Broad Run 21 – Tuscarora 14.
The second half was shear dominance by the home team. Two TD’s in the third quarter and one more in the 4th meant that Tuscarora’s late score did little to dent an insurmountable Spartan lead. Broad Run moves on with a convincing 42-21 win.
