Ashburn (May 12, 2015) – Chas Sumser photographed the Tuscarora High School vs. Broad Run High School girls soccer match on Tuesday, May 12 and posted this photo gallery with 111 images.
Most of the match was played at midfield with neither side able to retain possession or willing to give it up. Midway through the second half, the Spartans struck with one of their now-patented Deutsch-Deutsch corner kicks topped off with a crushing header. Thinking that would demoralize the Huskies was a mistake because they became motivated instead and instantly applied their strongest attacking pressure of the evening–and it resulted in a tying score on a long arcing shot by Kelly Reilly.
Into overtime the two teams went and through the first extra five minutes with no resolution. But, on another corner kick that didn’t clear, Broad Run got the game winner with about three minutes remaining in the second overtime, 2-1.
