Lansdowne, VA (June 1, 2017) – Before the game even started, the Riverside Rams were ahead. Well, technically, the scoreboard reflected the goal scored in the first eight minutes played two days ago–before the match was called due to inclement weather. If you trend that out–one goal per eight minutes–would the final score be 10-0?

Well, almost. Behind it’s powerful front line, confident midfield, and steady backfield the Rams clearly outmatched the undermanned Thomas Jefferson Vikings. Having travelled from Richmond, and suffered through traffic, the visitors were entitled to a slow start, but, truly, they never got going.
By halftime, Riverside had expanded their lead to 8-0 and had already begun to sub out the starters across the board. Even with those changes, the momentum and pace continued to tilt the field toward the Vikings’ end.
To their credit, Jefferson’s defense got more organized in the second half and slowed the onslaught a bit. Still, four more goals later, the Rams had produced a shutout, a thorough victory, and a ticket to the 3A East Semifinals.
Final score: Riverside 12 – Thomas Jefferson 0.
