Sterling, VA (Feb 3, 2016) – On a rainy mid-winter’s night, the Potomac Falls Panthers made the short trip to play their rivals–the Dominion Titans–in boys and girls basketball.
VivaLoudoun was there to cover the action and posted separate galleries for the girls game (86 images), the boys game (76 images), and a bonus gallery of the Dominion Dance and Latin Dance teams (40 images) who performed at the halftime breaks.
The Potomac Falls girls entered the game with just three wins secured while Dominion sported a much better overall record at 11-6. However, both teams are right in the thick of things in their respective conferences, and the cross-town rivalry would surely make the game competitive. Unfortunately, the Panthers got off to a very slow start, falling behind 8-0 after one quarter. The Titans never seemed threatened and steadily increased the margin to win, 35-20.
The boys teams entered play with almost identical overall records. Although in different conferences, there was no doubt this game had meaning to both teams. The Panthers led by just one point after the first quarter, but they gradually began to pull away. The Titans had a late surge, but Potomac Falls prevailed, 62-51.
