Aldie, VA (January 9, 2017) – On a cold winter’s night, a veteran and balanced Loudoun Valley Vikings boys basketball team travelled to John Champe to meet an aggressive, but younger team of Knights. The first quarter was fairly even with the home team feeding off a boisterous crowd, but by the time the first half ended Loudoun Valley had pulled ahead, 49-38, and had the game seemingly in control.
Chas Sumser, Viva Loudoun photographer, was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
Once the second half started Loudoun Valley exploded. Their pressing defense held the Knights in check and generated fast break chances for everyone. Surging to nearly 100 points, the Vikings seemed to score quickly and easily with contributions from every player. John Champe never gave up, but the game was essentially over midway through the half and Loudoun Valley cruised to a final score of 94-53.
