Leesburg, VA (Jan. 19, 2016) – The John Champe Knights visited the Loudoun County Raiders for a girls basketball matchup on a cold winter’s night. Heading in to the game, the Raiders were at the top of Conference 21B with an overall record of 12-1, a perfect conference record of 6-0, and an eleven game win streak. On the other hand, the Knights were in the middle of the Conference 22 pack and have struggled to build momentum all season. The evening also included Loudoun County’s annual “Hoops for Heroes” events in support of the Wounded Warriors Foundation.

Surprisingly, Loudoun County held just a ten-point lead at halftime, 24-14, due to a combination of a slow Raider start and a gritty effort from the Knights. Things turned around in the third quarter, however, as the home team completed a furious 22-3 run ending the period leading 46-17 behind the hot three-point shooting of Julia Ng (5). The Raiders continued to surge in the fourth quarter on their way to their twelfth straight win.
Final Score: Loudoun County 60 – John Champe 23.
