Landover, MD (September 14, 2014) – The Washington Redskins earned their first victory of the season on Sunday, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 41 – 10. The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
The victory did come at a price, losing starting quarterback Robert Griffin III for extensive time, possibly for the season with a dislocated ankle. Quarterback Kirk Cousins entered in relief and completed 22-of-33 passes for 250 yards with two touchdowns. Alfred Morris rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Rookies Ryan Grant and Silas Redd both scored their first career touchdowns. Grant finished the game with 5 receptions for 47 yards. The defense played tough as well; paving the way to victory by tying the franchise record for sacks in a game with 10. Four of those sacks came at the hands Ryan Kerrigan.
