Leesburg, VA (October 22, 2016) – On fourth and goal from the John Champe 1-foot line, the Heritage offense hurried to the line of scrimmage where quarterback Alex Carlin took a direct snap with one second left on a running clock, charged towards the right tackle, bounced outside and plunged into the end zone just beyond the reach of the nearest defender for the go-ahead score to seal a thrilling 41-38 point victory.
The win marked the exciting end to a Thursday, October 20th senior-night game featuring the prolific offenses of both the Heritage Pride and John Champe Knights. The loss dropped the Knights to 5-3, and look to get back on track next up against the Loudoun County Raiders. The win propelled the Pride’s record to 6-2, and next travel to Sterling to take on the Dominion Titans – a game that puts the winner in the driver seat to secure the Conference 21B Championship.
