Round Hill, VA. (September 9, 2016) – The 2nd game of the field hockey double header at Loudoun County finished with Tuscarora hosting Rock Ridge Thursday night. The Huskies jumped out early and held the Phoenix at bay through most of the first half. However, the Phoenix did ‘rise’ to tie the match with minutes to spare in regulation. The 3-3 tie sent the match into sudden-death over time which tested the mettle of both teams.
A penalty shot opportunity for Rock Ridge gave the Phoenix a chance at ending the game, but a great save by the Husky goal keeper would keep the game underway.
The Lady Huskies would go on to win, getting past the Phoenix defense to end the match 4-3.
Both Rock Ridge and Tuscarora next play on Wednesday September 14, when they both travel. Rock Ridge will play at Freedom where they will face Heritage, and Tuscarora will take on Woodgrove at John Champe.
