The upset is complete

Leesburg, VA (Feb 19, 2016) – The setup was classic: the top seeded–and highly ranked–Tuscarora Huskies facing the underdog, and fourth-seeded, Potomac Falls Panthers; a gym packed with roaring student sections and adoring families; colorful and animated coaches on both sides. What could be better on a late winter evening?

Most of the home crowd had just witnessed an easy win for the Tuscarora girls team, and perhaps they expected the same to be true in this one, but that was far from the case. The first half proved surprisingly tight, and the Panthers held a slim margin headed into the locker room, 28-26. The game stayed virtually tied throughout the third quarter, too.
Finally, the Huskies seemed to take over as they built a seven-point lead in the fourth period. But, Potomac Falls, was not to be outdone and fought back. This was not a game that either team lost, the Panthers simply made the last shot and the place erupted as the “black out” exploded from the Panther Pit and onto the court as the final seconds ticked off.
Final score: Potomac Falls 62 – Tuscarora 61.
