Ashburn (June 19, 2015) – On a misty early summer evening, thirty softball players from Loudoun high schools and the Ashburn Girls Softball League (AGSL) gathered to play in tribute to their fallen friend and teammate, Madison Small. More reunion than competition, the night was a chance to be together once more on the sanctuary that is the playing field. Chas Sumser photographed the event on Friday, June 19, and posted this photo gallery with 94 images.
A detailed scoresheet might show that one team had more runs that the other, but it’s safer to say this one ended in a tie and everyone who participated came out a winner. In fact, prior to the game, four players were recognized with newly named Madison Small AGSL Scholarships.
The players were collecting donations at the game that they intend to use to erect a permanent memorial in Madison Small’s honor. If you would like to make a donation to the Madison Small AGSL Scholarship fund, please send your check to Chris Keyser, Director of the Madison Small AGSL Scholarship Fund, 20670 Coppersmith Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147. Please make the check out to AGSL and denote either memorial or scholarship fund on the memo field of your check.
