Sterling, VA (November 21, 2014) – Park View has recently named Caitlin Hunter Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach. In addition to her responsibilities as Coach, Caitlin also serves at Park View as a Physical Education and Health teacher.
Caitlin Hunter graduated from Broad Run High School in 2009. During her time there she was a 4 year Varsity letter winner for basketball and soccer. She won two state championships in soccer in 2008 and 2009 after going undefeated for 2 years. Those 2008 & 2009 teams hold the VHSL State Records for most wins in a season (24 and 23), longest unbeaten streak (48), Shutouts in a season (20), and goals against average (0.17). Hunter holds the individual VHSL State Records for most shutouts in a season (20) and in a career (63). During her time at Broad Run she was a two time All-Met selection, three time All-District selection, First Team All-State selection, and an ESPN Rise All-American Honorable Mention as a senior.
After high school she attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she was a four year starter in goal. During her time there she helped capture the programs first ever CAA Tournament Championship in 2009 and first ever NCAA bid. She finished her career with several career rankings in Wins (29/1st), Goalie games played (66/1st), Goalie games started (64/1st), Goalie minutes played (5791/1st), Saves (349/2nd), Save percentage (.810/2nd), and Goals Against Average (1.27/4th). During her Senior Campaign she started all 22 games in goal, establishing new single-season marks for games played and started by a keeper. Also set single season marks for victories (12) shutouts (7) and save percentage (.857) She was a Second-Team All-CAA selection, fashioned a 0.92 goals against average and made 126 saves. She was named to Soccer America Team-of-the-Week on Aug. 23 after allowing only one goal in two games at Hilton Garden Inn Hokie Invitational, named CAA Co-Player-of-the-Week on Aug. 20, was selected to All-Tournament Team at 2012 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship, and made 10 saves in 0-0 draw against No. 3 Wake Forest. She also recorded a career-high 13 stops against No. 8 Virginia. In 2010 during her sophomore year she was a Third Team All-CAA Selection. During her 2009 rookie season she was an All-Tournament Team selection at the 2009 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship. She was also named to Soccer America Women’s Team-of-the-Week on Nov. 9 for performance at CAA Championship and CAA Rookie-of-the-Week on Oct. 5
Following her career at UNCW she took a job as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Division 1 school, Campbell University. During her time there she worked primarily with the goalkeepers and defense and helped guide Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Lawson to a Big South Defensive Player of the Week Honor during the 2013 season.
