(July 17, 2013) – Park View High School grad Amber Kerico has been nominated for Break Out Athlete of the Year in the latest edition of Profiles in Excellence: 2012-13 College Swimming & Diving Honors.
Kerico is a junior at Mary Washington. Her team was also nominated for Female Break Out Team of the year.
She placed 11th in the 200 yard breast at the NCAA Division III championships in March in Shenandoah, Texas. Kerico’s time of 2:20.25 earned her All-American honors. That same day she was part of the Mary Washington 400 free relay that finished 23rd with a time of 3:33.99. Kerico was also All American in the 100 yard breast where she took 13th with a 1:04.69 swim. She was 21st in the 100 fly with a 57.15 time. As part of the 200 free relay team, she helped Mary Washington finish 18th with a 1:37.14.
Kerico was named the Athlete of the Year in February when Mary Washington clinched its 23rd straight CAC crown. She won four gold medals at the CAC meet.
