The Northern Virginia Volleyball Association will open its 2016/2017 club volleyball season with tryouts beginning November 4th and running through November 18th. NVVA offers advanced volleyball training and competition on local, regional and national stages for athletes ages 12 to 18. Roster spots are available on teams suitable for a variety of athletes, ranging from those interested in playing at the collegiate level to those looking to sharpen their skills and improve their game within the confines of local/regional competition schedule.
With tryouts just a month away, the staff at NVVA is currently offering fall clinics, Tryout Prep clinics and Private and Semi-private lessons to prepare athletes to perform at their best. Tryout dates and times are posted on the NVVA website, nvva.com.
Now, in its 20th year of operation and under the direction of Rodrigo Gomes, the NVVA continues to improve its facility and its programs. The recently installed sand volleyball court, expanded weight room, and newly installed televisions on all courts and lobby make the NVVA a state-of-the-art volleyball facility. This year all practices will be held either at the VVC or at Leesburg Christian School. And, in addition to Gold Medal Squared training and strength and conditioning, sand training will be incorporated into all team practices.
When asked about the vision he has for NVVA Rodrigo Gomes, NVVA President & CEO said “Our vision is to give every NVVA athlete the opportunity to become the best in volleyball they can be. This has been a long and well thought out process in which we will be constantly working on identifying athletes strengths and weaknesses, providing them with the tools to get better and finally following up to keep track of their development. We have been able to form an outstanding team of specialist in the most diverse areas and can’t wait to see the improvements in the game of our kids.”
Finally, a soon to be announced new technology for tracking, evaluating and developing athletes will be introduced this season. With a lineup of skilled and experienced new and returning coaches, NVVA is poised for another very successful year.
