Washington, D.C. (January 17, 2015) – Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation donated $10,000 to The Salvation Army to assist families in need throughout the Washington, D.C., area through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
The Angel Tree Program ensures that underserved children receive gifts for the holidays. MSE Foundation made the donation in conjunction with holiday toy drives hosted by the NHL’s Washington Capitals and the NBA’s Washington Wizards.
The Washington Capitals and Wizards teamed up with Comcast SportsNet, Elliot in the Morning and The Salvation Army to host the toy drives in December at Verizon Center. Fans donated 846 toys and nearly $1,000. The toys were then distributed to children in the Washington, D.C., area through the Angel Tree Program.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards. MSE is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball and hockey, education and scholarship, pediatric health and fitness, military and veterans’ affairs and hunger and homelessness.
