(Aug. 13, 2013) – Host McLean won the 4th Annual George Pavlis Memorial golf tournament played Monday, August 12 at Reston National Golf Course. The Highlanders shot 322, eight strokes better than defending champion Stone Bridge.
The George Pavlis Memorial tournament was created in memory of the late father of one of McLean’s former players, Nikos Pavlis. George Pavlis died suddenly of cancer. In his memory, the golf program created a tournament which emphasizes the building of friendships, fair play and sportsmanship through competitive golf.
This year win was McLean’s second title in the tournament’s four year history.
JP DeFranco of Wakefield HS was the low medalist and winner of the tournament for the second year in a row shooting an even par 71.
McLean’s Kendall Taylor was the Runner-up shooting a 1 over 72.
Stone Bridge was led by Brandon Locke’s 79 and Logan Goodrich carded an 81.
