With the nation observing Memorial Day, it’s worth noting that Loudoun County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Historic Records and Deed Research Division has an extensive collection of military papers. They include:
- Revolutionary War Index
- War 1812
- Civil War
- Confederate Pensioners
- Roster of Confederate Soldiers
- Mexican-American War
- Muster Roll from World War I
- Pre-Civil War Militia Officer Papers
- Pre-Civil War Misc. Loose Militia Papers (Over 10,000 names)
Some of the records may be found online at www.loudoun.gov/clerk-archives.
Also, veterans may have their discharge papers recorded at the Courthouse for safe keeping free of charge.
