Loudoun County, Va. (February 26, 2015) – Comprehensive demographic information for Loudoun County’s current election districts is now available for the first time through the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2013 American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS collects economic, housing and social information, including:
- Economic: Employment status, occupations, commute time to working to work, and income
- Housing: Types of housing units, age of units, type of home heating fuel, and housing costs
- Social: Household types, marital status, number of children, school enrollment, education, veteran status, place of birth, citizenship status, language spoken at home, and ancestry
For the first time, the ACS has published the estimates for each of Loudoun County’s current election districts: Algonkian, Ashburn, Blue Ridge, Broad Run, Catoctin, Dulles, Leesburg and Sterling. The Census Bureau previously published the economic, housing and social demographic profiles for the county as a whole, which is the At-Large District.
The American Community Survey is a nationwide survey conducted annually that is designed to provide communities a fresh look at how they are changing. It is a key element in the Census Bureau’s demographic data programs.
