(Sept. 16, 2013) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will hold a public Memorial Service for Baby Michelle on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 10 AM at Adams-Green Funeral Home Chapel, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. Burial will immediately follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
In April 2013, LCSO Deputies were called to the area of Awsley Court after a resident walking along the path observed what appeared to be a deceased baby in a pond. An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Medical Examiner reported the baby as full-term, unable to determine ethnicity, and was likely a home birth. The case is still under investigation.
The LCSO would like to thank the following individuals and community businesses for their generosity and assistance with burial arrangements. Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon donated the grave, opening and closing of grave and custom memorial marker; Walls Vault Service, Kearneysville, WVA donated the baby casket and vault; Herndon Florist donated the flowers for the casket; Adams-Green Funeral Home donated the professional services, chapel facility and funeral vehicles and Chaplain Charlie Grant, Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad will be performing the Service.
The LCSO continues to investigate leads but asks members of the community who have information regarding the identity of the mother to contact Detective S. Petrakos at 703-777-0405.
