Loudoun County, VA (January 16, 2015) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office held their 2014 Awards and Recognition Ceremony on Friday, January 9, 2015. The ceremony is an internal awards ceremony that recognizes the day-to-day efforts of those members of the agency who have a commitment to service in Loudoun County.
The program allows members of the agency to nominate their fellow employees for their day-to-day efforts that often go unrecognized. The nominations are then reviewed by an awards committee. The awarded categories for this year included the Meritorious Service Award, the Meritorious Action Award, the Sheriff’s Excellence Award, the Commendation Award and the Master Deputy Program Achievement Award.
Meritorious Service Award: Recognizes performance by a member within the scope of normal responsibilities, but performed in such a manner as to deserve special recognition.

Meritorious Action Award: Recognizes an individual, or team of individuals, who have demonstrated exemplary action in response to a specific situation of an emergency nature, or as part of a routine event, where the member’s exceptional performance merits special recognition.
Senior Deputy Earl Haussling, Deputy First Class Brandon Leigh, Deputy Matthew Harvey, Sgt. Howard Craig, Deputy Christopher Grandner, Deputy Ashley Martynowicz, Sgt. John J. Davis, Lt. Kenneth Christensen, Deputy First Class Todd Younkin, Deputy First Class Jeremy Krapfl, Deputy Gary Ace, Deputy Casey Macomber and his father Edward Macomber.
Sheriff’s Excellence Award: Recognizes senior, civilian, supervisors and senior, front line, sworn supervisors for superior job knowledge, devotion to duty, and dedication to the community and the agency.

Commendation Award: Awarded by the Sheriff to any individual or team of individuals, for an act that materially contributes to the accomplishment of Sheriff’s office goals or for an act that warrants special recognition in the public interest.
Captain Jeffrey Ebersole, 1st Lt. Bruce Domin, 1st Lt. Christopher Hines, Sgt. Gregory Johnson, Master Deputy Kristina Leigh, Audra Vogel, Courtney Troiano, Sgt. Kevin Tucker, Detective Shannon Petrakos, Detective Mark Jones, and representatives from the Fairfax County Police Arlington County Police, Town of Herndon Police and the Town of Leesburg Police. Also receiving the award were three local youths. Kabear Kamran, Sam Sidhu, and Tyler Hickman received the award for their assistance in a robbery investigation.
Master Deputy Program Achievement Award: Recognizes deputies with the Master Deputy Program for superior job knowledge, devotion to duty specifically related to career path, dedication to those they serve, and loyalty to the Sheriff’s Office.

Also recognized at this year’s awards ceremony were those members of the agency who received external awards for their efforts in the pursuit of public safety.
The Awards and Recognition Ceremony was held in the School Board Meeting Room of the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building.
Those in attendance included Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Leadership Team, Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman, Loudoun Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary Clemens, Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet, Blue Ridge District Supervisor Janet Clarke, Sterling Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio, Deputy Chief Daniel Murray, Arlington County Police Department, Captain Ron Thunman, Town of Herndon Police Department, Captain James Baumstark, Fairfax County Police Department, Lt. Eli Cory, Fairfax County Police Department, Sgt. Claudio Saa, Town of Herndon Police Department, and Captain Vanessa Grigsby, Town of Leesburg Police Department.
The Awards and Recognition program was developed in 2010 and is an annual event.
