Ashburn, VA (October 7, 2016) – Loudoun County Public Schools’ 2016 graduates who completed the SAT outperformed the state and national averages based on data released by the College Board.
The average score of LCPS students increased slightly from last year, with combined scores of 1612 in 2015 and 1617 in 2016. The average score for the areas of Critical Reading and Writing were almost identical from 2015 to 2016, while the average score for Math increased five points.
Nationally, the average SAT scores for the 2016 graduates decreased 1 point in Critical Reading, decreased 3 points in Mathematics and decreased 2 points in Writing compared to the class of 2015. In Virginia, the average SAT scores for the class of 2016 increased by 2 points for Critical Reading, increased by 1 point in Mathematics and decreased by 1 point in Writing compared to the class of 2015.
