Loudoun County, Va. (October 20, 2014) – Six elementary schools will host the first Kids Connect 5K Fun Run beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the shared campus of Rosa Lee Carter Elementary and Rock Ridge High School.
The event will be sponsored by the PTO/PTAs from six LCPS elementary and middle schools and will fund social enrichment programs for the six participating schools.
The participating schools include: Rosa Lee Carter Elementary, Cedar Lane Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Moorefield Elementary, Countryside Elementary and Sycolin Creek Elementary, who have collaboratively joined together to plan this event.
Activities will start at 9 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run, followed by the 1K Mini-Mile Obstacle Course and festival at 9:30 a.m. There will be interactive activities, sports raffles, fall-themed contests and games throughout the morning.

Early registration for the 5K Fun Run and 1K Mini-Mile Obstacle Course will remain open until Friday, October 10th.
The early registration fee of $15 will include: the 5K Fun Run or 1K Mini-Mile Obstacle Course. Costs include a race shirt for both events. The 1K Mini-Mile Obstacle Course packages will also include 10 festival tickets for attractions after the race.
The goal of the Kids Connect 5K is to ensure the development of social skills of the entire school. Inspired by Disabilities Awareness month, Kids Connect 5K will raise funds for the nonprofit Developmental Connections, which provides schools with support for children with social learning challenges, an engaging school-wide curriculum and training for teachers and staff.
The event’s presenting sponsor is Autism Outreach. The event also has the support of two platinum sponsors: Mathnasium of Ashburn and Dragon Yong in Martial Arts.
