Middleburg (Oct. 1, 2013) – Sophomore Kat Forrest of Sperryville, VA, may be a newcomer to Foxcroft School, but she has already developed quite a reputation for her outstanding play on the volleyball court.
A transfer from Rappahonnock High School where she was the only freshman on the varsity team last year, Forrest earned Foxcroft School Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 28 by sparking the Varsity Volleyball Team to a pair of victories.
In games last week against Randolph-Macon Academy and Chelsea Academy, the talented outside hitter recorded 20 kills, 27 service aces, and 40 service points. An all-around player who is also comfortable in the back row, Forrest added nine digs on defense, and made more than one play that had the spectators slack-jawed with amazement. Her performance this fall has led Foxcroft to a 3-1 record, its best opening to a season in about a decade.
The daughter of Vaughn and Diane Forrestt, Kat has played club volleyball in the Charlottesville area in past winters and hopes to catch on with the Western Loudoun Volleyball Club this winter.
