Ashburn, VA (December 18, 2014) A six team gymnastic match was held at Broad Run High School last Thursday, and the Tuscarora Huskies finished first with a 5 hundredths of a point advantage over Briar Woods in a hotly contested match. Tuscarora’s 4-point advantage in the Bars led to the victory as Briar Woods secured first place in the team scores for Vault (34.8), Beam (34.825) and Floor exercises (34.675). The total team scores were as follows:

Tuscarora was led by Claire Petit, who finished first overall with 35.5 points and first place finishes in the Bars (9.05) and Floor exercises (9.275). Julia Thoppil, also of Tuscarora finished second with 34.625 points. Julia secured second place in the Vault (8.9) and the Bars (8.7) and third place in the Beam (8.575).
Briar woods, which claimed victories over Potomac Falls, Broad Run, Loudoun County and Park View, was led by Loren Barber and Becca Hang. Loren, who finished first in the Vault with a 9.000 and first in the Beam (8.9), and third overall with a total score of 34.025. Becca finished sixth overall with a total score of 33.100 and a second place finish in the Beam (8.85) and Floor exercise (9.050).
Potomac Falls finished third overall with a team score of 127.875 and had victories over Broad Run, Loudoun County and Park View. The team had second place finishes in the Vault (34.5), Bars (28.6) and Floor exercises (33.675). The Panthers were led by Alyssa Del Prete and Jordan Smith. Alyssa, who finished fourth over with a total score of 33.600, had third place finish (tie) in the Vault (8.8) and a fifth place finish in the Floor (8.8). Jordan finished fifth overall with a total score of 33.575.
Broad Run finished fourth overall with victories over Loudoun County and Park View, finishing with a team score of 119.375. Broad Run finished fourth in every event and was led by Hanna Black, who finished seventh overall with an All Around score f 33.1 and Amber Curran who finished in eight with a total score of 31.375. Hannah had a fourth place finish in the Bars with a score of 8.000, a sixth place finish in the floor (8.45) and an eighth place finish in the Beam with a 8.350.
Loudoun County finished fifth overall with a team score of 70.15 and a victory over Park View. The Vikings had a small team as only three gymnasts could compete due to illness and choral commitments. Molly Chapman led the Vikings with an eleventh place finish and a 29.675 score. Ashleigh Wright finished fourteenth with a 28.550. Molly had an eighth place finish in the Vault (8.5) and an eleventh place finish in the Bars (6.9). Ashleigh had an eleventh place finish on the Beam (7.925).
Park View finished the match just 1.525 points behind Loudoun County. Ashleigh Wagner led the Patriots with a sixteenth place finish with a 23.225 overall score.
