Favorite memory from your years at APEX:
When I first started at Apex, before Mr. Marty knew my name, he used to call me “Hollister Girl,” because I would wear shorts or sweatpants that said Hollister on them. Then he would call me my sisters name and pretend we were the same person. He was always teasing me.
Your favorite meet and why?
Hershey Hugs and Kisses Meet. Because….CHOCOLATE!
Which skill was the toughest for you to learn?
A toe shoot on the bars. I’ve been working on it for almost two years and I still can’t do it consistently.
What are your plans next year?
I will start at NOVA. I want to be a preschool teacher, possibly for deaf children. I love working with little kids, and have studied sign language in high school.
Do you have any words of advice for younger gymnasts?
If you are struggling to get a skill, keep practicing because the more you practice, the sooner you will learn how to do it. It’s hard and frustrating, and it hurts sometimes, but never give up!
