Aldie, VA (January 7, 2015) – Early Tuesday, Coach Glen Gragasin resigned as the head volleyball coach at John Champe High School. He started the program from scratch and built a solid foundation in which the school and community should be proud of.
In his 3 years as head coach he showed marked improvement each and every year.
Moving the program from just 4 wins in year one to 14 wins this past season. In
addition, Coach Gragasin was the first ever recipient of the Coach of the Year award
Coach Gragasin made a tremendous impact on the school, community and the student
athletes. His work ethic, demeanor, strength of character and ability to teach the
game was second to none. In a letter to his staff, Gragasin said “This was not an easy decision for me to make. My love for the game and coaching is still intact, but during the off-season I realized that after years of coaching volleyball, I had slowly taken more and more time away from the people who mean the most to me – my family. So coaching is something I am putting on hold for now – not just for Champe, but all levels of volleyball.”
JCHS wishes Coach Gragasin and his family the best and thank him for his dedication and commitment to JCHS and the Aldie community. Over the next several weeks, JCHS will be actively working to hire the best applicant as their new head volleyball coach.
