Leesburg, VA (March 29, 2015) – The 2014-2015 campaign was one of historic accomplishments for the Tuscarora girls basketball program. Posting a team best 22-4 overall and 10-0 conference record to go along with a 14-game winning streak, the Lady Huskies earned the program’s first ever regular season district and conference tournament titles. The Lady Huskies appeared in the Region 5A North tournament final for the first time in school history, walked away with the runner-up trophy, and earned their first ever state tournament semi-final birth.
In addition to these milestones, on December 29th the Lady Huskies entered the Virginia High School League record book by scoring sixteen 3-point field goals in a single game. This achievement puts the team in second place on the VHSL all-time single game 3-point shooting record page. The team drained 173 shots from beyond the arc for the season, placing them fifth on the VHSL all-time single season chart.
Five of the Lady Huskies garnered All-Conference honors. Alexis Bailey, Meagan Leonard and Chloe Roach were first team selections while Jhade Aird and Kennedy Middleton were selected to the second team. Alexis Bailey was also selected to the Region 5A North first team. Chloe Roach and Meagan Leonard were selected to the All-Region second team.
The banner season came to an end when the Ladies Huskies were defeated by the reigning state champions, perennial powerhouse Princess Anne High School. The defeat was difficult, but it does not diminish the achievements of the Tuscarora girls basketball program which will look for a repeat of its 2014-2015 performance next season.
