Alexandria, Va. (November 7, 2014) The Stone Bridge Bulldogs defeated the Thomas Jefferson Colonials in a lop-sided contest last Friday, winning 53-8. The victory improves Stone Bridge’s record to 8-2 and drops TJ to 0-10.
The game was over almost before it started as Stone Bridge recovered three Colonial first quarter fumbles to run up a 41-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Stone Bridge then took their foot off the accelerator to coast into the end of the first half with the same lead. The Bulldogs then added two more rushing scores in the second half to cap off their scoring. The Bulldogs were able to play their entire team during the game. A credit to the Bulldogs and their Head Coach, Mickey Thompson, and coaching staff.
The Colonials scored their lone TD on a short field as Stone Bridge fumbled the ball away on their own 37-yard line. The Colonials then executed on a 7-play run oriented drive that resulted in their only score.
Stone Bridge QB Joe Thompson was 13 for 19 for 185 yards, 5 TD’s and no interceptions. Colonial QB Jack Boyle was 5 for 13 for 16 yards and 1 INT.
Three different running backs for the Bulldogs found the end zone: Chance Frye, Easton Turner and Austin Johnson. Johnson also led all Stone Bridge rushers with 48 yards on 3 carries. Colin Buckley also had 41 yards on 3 carries.
Steven Rehard rushed for the Colonials only score.
