Ashburn, VA (May 5, 2016) – Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Redskins pro bowl tight end Jordan Reed signed a five-year contract extension worth $50 million, with $22 million guaranteed. The deal ties him with Jimmy Graham as the highest paid tight end in the league, and is the second-largest deal for the position in NFL history.
The 25-year-old Reed was the team’s third-round pick out of Florida in 2013. He posted a record breaking 2015 season in which he totaled 87 receptions for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. By leading all Redskins players in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Reed became the first tight end to lead the team in all three categories since Jean Fugett in 1977.
