Purcellville, VA (May 1, 2015) – The LVHS Under The Lights Game will take place at Loudoun Valley High School’s football stadium on Saturday, May 9th; JV to play at 6:00pm, Varsity at 7:30 pm.
For the second year, the Loudoun Valley Vikings will be taking on the Titans of Dominion High School, except this year the game will be on Viking territory. This game is sponsored by The Loudoun County League (LCL) in which all of the current high school club teams (10 schools affiliated and represented) are apart of. LCL works to promote work towards Field Hockey becoming a fall sport in Loudoun County. The Under The Lights Game in particular is a big deal, because it credits the support and cooperation from the hosting school’s athletic department. Dominion was the host a high school field hockey game, Loudoun Valley will now be second. By playing on their home field and in their school colors, the event gives the girls a chance to pursue their wish of playing field hockey at the high schools level.
Admission will be free and 50% of profits raised through concessions will be donated to the Valley Relay for Life team–The Birthday Squad, in support of the American Cancer Association. The games are both expected to be very competitive, as there is a rivalry between the Titans and Vikings after the Vikings came up a goal short in Dominion’s previous Under The Lights Game…however the Vikings are ready to take the win back and defend their home turf and would love for the Loudoun Community to be apart of it. Let’s fill the stands and show that field hockey has a place in Loudoun County high school!
