South Riding, VA (February 12, 2015) – Two suspects attempted to rob an armored truck at gunpoint at the East Gate Marketplace Capital One Bank earlier today according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The armored car was parked in the Harris Teeter parking lot when the first suspect opened fire. Both the armored car driver and security guard returned fire, wounding the suspect one several times. Suspect one made it back to the getaway car and suspect two drove away to flee the scene of the crime. An unnamed witness inside the Harris Teeter was able to get a good look at the red Ford Taurus. Soon after, Fairfax County Police spotted the vehicle on Fairfax County Pkwy. The suspects were pulled over and apprehended on Old Plains Rd. and taken into custody. Suspect One was listed in currently in critical condition after suffering injuries consistent with gunshot wounds prior to being medevacced by Fairfax One to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
The suspects did not get away with any money and their identities have not yet been released. Schools called home to warn parents of what happened and to inform them the situation was under control.
